Proficiency versus Performance by Scott Benedict

Teachers are always wanting to know better ways to assess students. Without talking about grading specifics, in this session we will discuss the two main types of assessments outside of pencil and paper quizzes and tests: proficiency-based and performance-based assessments.

We’ll talk about what the difference is between them and why one may be better for both students and teachers. We will also discuss a variety of ways to implement performance-based assessments. This session does not play to any particular region (US, Europe, Oceana, or Asia), but is applicable to all of them.
